Over the last two years, the interest in collecting digital art has exploded, raising new questions for would-be collectors: Are there resources you need to store these works? How do you display artworks such as born-digital images, videos, websites, or even phone applications—to name just a few of the diverse forms these works can take? Like tangible media, art with digital components also requires unique care. Join us for this talk with Regina Harsanyi, one of the art world’s leading media art curators and conservators, to learn more about the exciting possibilities and challenges of collecting digital works.

About Regina Harsanyi

Regina Harsanyi is passionate about improving and promoting best practices for the longevity of variable media, from plastics to distributed ledger technologies while creating interdisciplinary bridges between academia, museums, collectors, corporations, and artists. She has lectured globally and led major time-based media conservation projects for multiple institutions, studios, and collectors, including the Museum of the Moving Image, bitforms gallery, and Sotheby’s. From 2017 to 2020, Harsanyi facilitated over 200 exhibitions across twenty-six locations under Wallplay, highlighting creative technology in the arts.
