Building appreciation of architecture from the ground up.

BAF’s mission is to inspire architectural appreciation, participation, and innovation.

Architecture + Education

At the forefront of BAF’s community outreach is the award-winning Architecture + Education program, an innovative collaboration between local architects and Buffalo Public Schools, utilizing architecture to teach students math, science, history, art and technology within the Common Core curriculum.

6 Minute Building Stories, or 6Mbs, is part of a larger Building Stories dialogue. 6Mbs is an informal and fun gathering featuring presentations by esteemed speakers from diverse cultural disciplines in unique locations throughout Buffalo, NY.

Pro Bono

BAF proudly sponsors the Pro Bono Publico Award in recognition of exemplary pro bono services provided to not-for-profit clients by architects or allied practitioners, plans events to bring design professionals and community group leaders together to match design needs with design services, and hosts community oriented design-build competitions.

Build with BAF is a campaign to reach individual supporters to strengthen our programs and allow for opportunities to grow our outreach.

As a not-for-profit organization, individual and corporate donations are vital in the continuation of our important mission.

Education

Our programs and partnerships include Buffalo Public Schools, Youth and Family local community centers, Native American Programming, and resources for educators.

Storytelling

Storytelling programs include Building Stories, a multi-media project documenting and sharing profound individual experiences with architecture and design, Garden Stories, and 6MB Stories.

Pro Bono

Our Pro Bono programs, awards, & competitions encourage the WNY design community to dedicate some of their working hours in service of the public interest without the expectation of a fee.

Little Free Library

Our Little Free Libraries are small-scale book shelters in neighborhoods, based on the premise of “take a book, leave a book.”

All donations are welcome and are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
